About Artist
Andrew feels blessed to have spent his life pursuing his two deepest passions: teaching art and creating art. After graduating from art school, he worked as a graphic designer and illustrator for several years before transitioning into a full-time fine artist—exhibiting in art shows nationwide and earning gallery representation. Then life took him into the academia path, where he spent over two decades in what he describes as a deeply fulfilling and rewarding career as an art professor.
Andrew is now back in the studio, bursting with creative energy and thrilled to be back creating full-time.
He divides his year between Austin, Texas, and Taos, New Mexico, spending most of the summer and fall in Taos. There, he immerses himself in the inspiring landscape and vibrant community of Northern New Mexico, exploring the region to sketch, gather inspiration, and create small studies, some of which eventually evolve into large-scale canvas works.
Come join Andrew on his creative journey as he shares his studio experiences, sketching excursions, and the evolution of his latest work. Follow his journey through his social media sites.
Artist Statement
“My work is my interpretation of the Southwest and Northern New Mexico, capturing its people, architecture, unique landscapes, light, color and the emotions, and feelings that I experience. After completing my inspirational research I return to the studio and just have a lot of fun, enjoying and fully immersing myself in the process of seeing my ideas evolve into my own personal vision, interpretation and style.
Ultimately, my hope is that my art evokes a personal connection that brings you as much joy in your home as it brings me in creating it.”
